Overview of TxDOT-sponsored research at Texas Tech University (Presentation) The department will discuss recent TxDOT-funded research activities undertaken by Texas Tech University. The capabilities of the Reese Center, the National Wind Institute, and the Center for Multidisciplinary Research in Transportation will be highlighted. c. Review of rural transportation and connectivity initiatives, including an update on the Ports to Plains Corridor (Presentation) The department will discuss projects and planned initiatives for addressing rural transportation and connectivity needs. The presentation will include an update on the Ports to Plains Corridor, including coordination and partnerships between TxDOT districts that have assisted in project financing and accelerated project delivery. Updates will also be provided on improvements to the Marsha Sharp Freeway and other regional projects and planning initiatives that will help to address rural transportation needs, freight mobility and energy sector growth. d. Coordinated emergency operations within TxDOT and with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (Presentation) e. Energy Development Impacts - discuss impact on the state highway system of energy development activities in the Panhandle / Permian Basin (Presentation) OPEN COMMENT PERIOD - At the conclusion of all other agenda items, the commission will allow an open comment period, not to exceed one hour, to receive public comment on any other matter that is under the jurisdiction of the department.
